Governance

Mandiram Hospital is run by the Mundakapadam Mandirams Society, a registered charitable society ( K 28 of 1956 ). Society’s members are from the three episcopal churches of Kerala – Malankara Mar Thoma Church, Malankara Orthodox Church and Diocese of Madhya Kerala in the Church of South India. 

Mandirams Society entrusts Governing Board, Hospital Committee and Hospital Executive Committee to govern the Hospital with the assistance of  Officers ofe htHospital.

Governing Board

Governing Board of the Mundakapadam Mandirams Society has authority over all affairs of the Mandiram Hospital. Board appoints  Officers of the Hospital and ratifies the appointment of all other staff done by the Hospital Executive Committee.  They have the power to fix and revise salaries and emoluments of all employees in the hospital.

Governing Board  examines and signs off the annual statement of accounts and budget of the Mundakapadam Mandiram Hospital.

Hospital Executive Committee

Hospital Executive Committee comprises of Office Bearers of Mundakapadam Mandirams Society, the Medical Superintendent, Deputy Medical Superintendent,  Medical Coordinator, Hospital Administrator and Senior Accounts Officer as special invitees. Meeting of Hospital Executive Committee is convened by Medical Superintendent.

The functions of this committee include :

  • Recruitment and Appointments
  • Recommendation to Governing board to upgrade facilities and other items of capital nature
  • Obtain and Review periodic performance evaluation of staff and make recommendations
  • Take disciplinary action against staff other than doctors and officers of the hospital
  • Review salary structure of staff and make necessary recommendations
  • Recommend Governing Board to close a department or stop an activity for the best interest of the hospital

Medical Superintendent is responsible to execute the decisions of this Committee.

Hospital Committee

Hospital Committee comprises of the Office Bearers of Mundakapadam Mandirams Society, Officers of the Hospital, Secretary of Mandirams Fellowship, a member of Fellowship nominated by Governing Board, a doctor from Hospital nominated by Governing Board and consultants invited by Medical Superintendent. Meeting of the Hospital Committee is convened by the Medical Superintendent. 

The functions of this committee include :

  • Scrutinize the annual budget and forward with recommendations to Governing Board for approval 
  • Fix charges for services rendered by the hospital
  • Act on the written grievances from the public and report to Governing Board
  • Conduct regular and effective chaplaincy services
  • Arrange retreats and get-together for staff
  • Any other functions delegated by Governing Board

The Medical Superintendent is the Administrative Head of the hospital. He / She is responsible for the day to day functioning  of the hospital.  The other Officers of the Hospital, Heads of the Departments / Units and staff shall assist him in running the  hospital in an exemplary manner.
